    Housing Information 
    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
     gives active service members two options for housing; living on post or finding a home off-post within the community.

    • Once you have orders to move, contact the Housing Services Office (HSO) at (608) 388-4169/3704/3906. They can answer all of your housing questions and provide services such as referrals and guidance for entering lease agreements.

    Fort McCoy On Post Housing 

    • Single Soldiers in the pay grade of E5 or below will need to contact the Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) Branch at (608) 388-3704/3906. Unaccompanied Soldiers who are geographically separated from their family, will need to contact the Fort McCoy Family and MWR at (608) 388-7400 / (877) 864-4969.

    • All command sponsored Soldiers will need to contact Army Family Housing at (608) 388-3704/3906. We have 3-4 bedroom homes furnished with appliances less than 20 minutes from the main area of post. Contact the Housing Office at the numbers listed for more information.

    Surrounding Areas 
    The towns of Sparta and Tomah both have about 9,000 residents and are located on the west and east side of Fort McCoy, respectively. Within a 30 minute commute of post are the small areas of Bangor, West Salem, and Jefferson. About 45 minutes out are the communities of North Bend, Holmen, Onalaska, La Crosse, Greenfield, and Black River Falls. La Crosse is the closest large city (with 51,600 residents) and is the major shopping and retail center of the Fort McCoy area. It is located on the Mississippi River which creates the border between Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The cities near Fort McCoy are: Winona, Onalaska, West Salem, Jefferson, Greenfield, La Crosse, and Black River Falls.

    About Fort McCoy 
    Fort McCoy has been used as primary military training center since it was established in 1909. Fort McCoy is home to the headquarters of the NMCB-25 (Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Two-Five). It is also home to the 181st Infantry Brigrade and the Fort McCoy NCO Academy.
